You notice it first thing in the morning. The line that used to be gone by your second coffee, and now is not.

Most anti-aging skincare is packaging. A few things are not. Here they are, in order of how much they matter.

1. Sunscreen

Sun exposure causes most of the visible ageing on your face. Lines, loss of firmness, uneven tone.

Daily sunscreen is the one step with strong evidence behind it. Nothing else on this list comes close.

2. A retinoid

Retinol and prescription retinoids have the most evidence for fine lines after sunscreen.

They can irritate. Start slowly, at night, and ask a pharmacist or doctor which strength suits you.

3. Moisture

Plumped, hydrated skin shows fine lines less. Hyaluronic acid under a good cream does this quickly.

It is temporary, but it is real, and it makes everything else easier to tolerate.

4. Supporting ingredients

Niacinamide helps with texture and tone. Peptides and antioxidants may help a little over time.

Think of them as support, not the answer.

What a cream cannot do

No cream removes deep lines or lifts sagging skin. Anything promising that is selling hope.

Be wary of words like instant, overnight and erase.

When to see a doctor

For deep lines, loss of volume or anything changing quickly, a dermatologist can tell you what is realistic.

The Resurrection Plant Face Cream is a single step for the look of firmness.
